Why Take Media Arts?
Media and photography have always been one of my strongest outlooks in class as well as outside of class as I always figure out creative ways to alter my videos or my pictures. I just recently got into taking video and realized how much fun it can actually be. Some may ask, what is fun about sitting there holding a camera recording something that might not turn out the way you want it to? My answer to that is that theses are the things that are fun about video recording and although you may have to go through a long process trying to record something, you never know how it will turn out until you go home and view the files. Sometimes you may even be surprised about what you get. I was the first few times and the videos I captured actually turned
out to be pretty good and I kept them knowing that I could probably make something with them later on.
Out of the two however photography is definitely one of my stronger areas and I have been doing photography for a very long time and as my skills increase I find my photos do to. The thing about photography is there is so much you can do with the pictures you capture. You can edit them, turn them into a collage, even make a video out of multiple pictures and these are just a few. Photography has allowed me to capture many moments and has given me hard copies of certain memories I want to hold on to forever. Like the saying says a picture says 1000 words. Photography is one of my passions and one of my hobbies and something I know I will hold onto forever. Everyone's photography is different it just depends on the styles you like and what kind things you are into. You can photography sports, nature, people pretty much anything you want and 1 photograph can say it all in just the hit of a button.
The one reason I took media arts was so I could do both of these things throughout one course. It gives me a break from my other harder courses and allows me to relax while doing so. There may be projects and summatives but they don't seem like a task when you get to discover new ideas and try something new while doing the things you love. I would definitely recommend this course if you are into photography video or even both like me. Media arts is something that doesn't take a lot of skill, just a creative imagination.
